Unlock the World of Knowledge
Our curriculum at SCA offers a well-rounded educational approach, emphasizing both classical and contemporary methods to build a strong foundation for students.
The Language Curriculum:
A classical focus fosters a deep appreciation for literature and effective communication by engaging students with diverse forms and genres tailored for different audiences. To support the development of strong language skills, we use the Purposeful Design Spelling and Easy Grammar programs, which provide systematic instruction in spelling, grammar, and language conventions. Together, these elements enhance comprehension and critical thinking while encouraging clear, creative, and effective expression.
The Mathematics Curriculum:
The use of Singapore Math resources emphasizes a balanced blend of rote learning and practical application, enabling students to master foundational concepts and apply them proficiently, often surpassing grade-level expectations.
The Science Curriculum:
SCA not only adheres to provincial standards but also delves deeper into natural and physical processes using Purposeful Design. This holistic and rigorous approach equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel academically and fosters a lifelong love for learning.
Welcome to Sudbury Christian Academy!
SCA has been a meaningful part of my life since 2016, and I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles over the years; as a teacher, Vice Principal, and now Principal. Each step has deepened my appreciation for this community and the incredible students and families who make it so special.
At SCA, we care deeply about the whole child. We want our students to grow academically, build strong character, and develop a genuine, lasting faith. Our classrooms are places where students are known, supported, and encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and discover their God-given gifts.
One of the things I value most about our school is the partnership we have with families. We believe that education works best when home and school are working together, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day.
Whether you are already part of the SCA community or just beginning to explore what we offer, I hope you get a sense of what makes this place so special. It is truly a joy to be part of what God is doing here. I would warmly invite you to come and see the school for yourself! We would love to welcome you and give you a glimpse into daily life at SCA.
Warmly,
Elaine Huisjes, B.A., B. Ed, OCT
Director of Elementary Education / Principal
